Sydney Koo Is Serving Up Change

Hunger Heroes Club president is leading towards a brighter future
Sydney+Koo+Is+Serving+Up+Change

Sydney Koo, a junior at Glendale High School, is a three-year member of our yearbook staff. She is on the GHS swim team, and she was recently selected to be a part of National Honor Society.

Sydney also has a passion for crocheting that she has been pursuing for the past two years, alongside her love for watching various TV shows. However, her uniqueness shines in her role as the current president of the Hunger Heroes Club, a position she earned after starting as club secretary during her sophomore year.

The mission of the Hunger Heroes Club is to support the homeless population in our community, by gathering supplies and donations. For the current year, Sydney is determined to collect a large amount of essentials, including hygiene supplies, snack bags, and heartwarming holiday cards. Hunger Heroes works with Ascensia, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing housing and services to the Los Angeles homeless population.

Club meetings serve as brainstorming sessions for community service opportunities, and they discuss any decisions that need to be made. All club members vote together to make decisions, and they can earn community service hours by contributing supplies to the cause.

Sydney’s favorite part about being a club president is that she is able to make a positive impact on others’ lives. So far, the club’s activities have proceeded smoothly, as the year has just begun. Recently, the Hunger Heroes Club successfully sold out of their waffles during the Round Up event on September 27!

Sydney’s vision for the club is to continue to make substantial contributions to her community! If you are interested in joining the Hunger Heroes Club, please reach out to their advisor, Mrs. Keefer, at [email protected]
