The movie Madame Web was released in theaters on February 14, starring the beautiful Dakota Johson, Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced and Celeste O’Connor. The director for this movie is S.J. Clarkson, who is mostly well-known for directing the Netflix series Jessica Jones, and she didn’t have a bad reputation until Madame Web came out.
Marvel is a huge, successful company, based on their movies, streaming series and comic books. Marvel Comics have been around since the 1960s, and many movies and cartoons have also been based on their properties. As time has gone on, Marvel has become one of the most successful media companies in the world.
At first, Madame Web sounded like an interesting movie right from the beginning. However, it appears that the marketing team was just too good at their jobs. I would love to say the same about the directing and overall script for this movie, but that would be a lie.
After watching this movie for a couple of minutes, it felt like I was being pranked. The plot was so confusing, that even an actual spider would get lost trying to understand it.
The “action” scenes are so exhausting to get through. My grandmother’s bingo nights have more action than half of this movie does.
I mean, come on! The CGI and editing feel like you’re watching the rough draft. You can tell that the members of the camera crew were holding their laughter inside, and most likely stifling yawns, while filming these scenes.
And please don’t get me started on the dialogue! Who wrote this script? I mean, the story just doesn’t make any sense!
At one point, it feels like Dakota Johnson’s character, Cassandra Webb, can predict the future, but then in the next scene, it seems like she’s trying to remember how to get to her local grocery store. No offense, but the dialogue in this movie is as stale as last month’s bread.
And I don’t want to spread any hate, because everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but the wardrobe team needs a stern talking to. The outfits look so cheap! Not that there’s anything wrong with saving money on wardrobe costs, but they could’ve done so much better. Superhero clothing needs to look cool! Outfits are a big part of their characters, and they absolutely ruined it.
Overall, Madame Web is such a waste of time, energy and money! It’s not worth the wait or the hype. I did not enjoy this movie, not for one second, and I do not encourage anyone to bother watching it. It’s not even worth checking out, just to see how awful it is.
On the other hand, if you’re looking for a better spider-based Marvel movie, check out Spider-Man: No Way Home and The Amazing Spider-Man!
