Nanar Tutunjian Wants Animals to Be Treated with Humanity

Nanar Tutunjian hopes that her new club, the Animal Humane Society, is here to stay on our campus. She also believes that this club can help our local communities with animals in need.

Nanar is a sophomore at Glendale High School and has spent her full two years at our school so far. She was born in Hollywood, California, but she eventually moved and grew up in our city of Glendale. She is currently serving as the Sophomore Class Secretary, and this is her second year in ASB. Nanar loves to cook and bake in her spare time, but she also wants to help the animals in our community.

Nanar said that there was previously an animal rights club on our campus, but this club failed due to lack of membership. After some discussion, she innovated a new version of this club.

Some of Nanar’s inspiration to create this club came from the internet. “I saw social media posts showing how animals were being endangered, abandoned and lost,” she said. Nanar doesn’t have any pets herself, because she and her family are often too busy, but she loves animals and wants to help them in any way that she can.

Nanar and her club members hold meetings once a month. “We discuss how we can get community service hours,” she said. ”We also figure out ways to raise money and we create toys for the animals in shelters.”

Nanar and her club held a “hot chocolate fundraiser,” and they also raised money during Round Up, back in September. “We want to hold more fundraisers. None of the money we fundraise goes to the club and only to animal shelters,” she said.

Nanar’s favorite part of being the president of the Animal Human Society is “being able to share my ideas and lead people to our common goal.” She thinks that people should join her club, particularly “if it aligns with their own goals and if you have pets at home, [and] especially if your passion is to help animals. ”

Nanar has high hopes for her club’s future. “So far it’s going pretty good,” she admitted. ”But when I graduate, I hope someone can take over and continue the club for the years to come.”

Nanar holds Animal Humane Society meetings in Room 2231, and you can follow them on Instagram: @ghs.ahsclub. Please feel free to message them if you have any questions. You can also Contact Queen Postajian at [email protected].
