The beginning dance class, which is taught by Ms. Cindy Caddel at Glendale High School, may be a great opportunity and encouragement for the start of a dance career. The TA’s are excellent at completing their tasks, and they are just so nice to the students; they do everything to help them be successful in class and pursue their goals. The class itself is very warm and welcoming.
Dancing can be done in various places, including dance studios, public spaces, community centers, and your own home. Since dancing has become such a well-liked form of exercise, the majority of health clubs now provide dance lessons as a component of their group fitness programs.
Dancing can be done in a social or competitive environment. It can be a terrific sporting alternative because every one of any age can participate. It doesn’t matter how chilly or rainy it is outside, because dancing is typically done indoors anyway.
Dance can also be a physical exercise that will benefit weight loss, mental health, and physical well-being. The flexibility gained through dancing can significantly lower the risk of injury, particularly in an active child.
The beginning dance class at GHS is a good opportunity for kids to start thinking about their future and health, too. Even for kids who do not want to continue this as their future career, it is just an easy way to meet new people and make friends. Some students might not even know they are good at dancing until they take this class. Students can feel so much more confident and can get used to performing in front of other people.
But you don’t have to just take my word for it! The students in the beginning dance class have a lot to say about it:
Yeranuhi Kerobyan, Freshman
I picked dance class instead of PE, because I love dancing. I have been dancing since I was four years old. I kind of do see dance in my future. I am good at Armenian dances, but I also want to take Latin dances. I also go to another dance class outside of school. I love this class!
Emmi Mkrtchyan, Freshman
I picked dance, because it is easier for me than PE. I really like this class, because it is fun and we get to dance without friends. I actually would not change anything in this class; it is perfect the way it is.
Rubina Grigoryan, Freshman
I picked dance, because I really like it, and I have been passionate about it since I was little. I am better at dance, rather than PE. I do not see dance in my future, even though I might have it as a hobby, but not as a main profession. I am certainly passionate about this class, because I do want to pass with an A. I would not change anything in this class, because I generally love the way the class goes forward each time.
Luiza Aroyan, Sophomore
For me, dance is more interesting, because …it is more fun, [and] we do not have to run. Also, the clothes, in general, are a lot more comfortable because, unlike PE, [we don’t have] to wear shorts. I love to stand in the front and dance, because I am very passionate about it.
Dante Maggiore, Senior TA
I chose to do dance, because ever since I was in middle school, I loved to dance. So I think that like for me, I have always looked at Glendale High dance and always wanted to be a part of it. I do see dance in my future in some sort of way since I have always had it in me, and it’s normal for me to have dance in my life. I am actually very passionate about this.
Ms. Cindy Caddel, Beginning Dance Teacher
I started teaching twenty years ago, and I actually just joined the dance team, maybe like four or five years ago. I loved it, because the dance team and the dance program were expanding and they needed more help.
I have a lot of background in theater and singing and movement. As far as helping students in dancing, it was a very good fit of being around creativity.
Before I became a teacher, I was a substitute teacher in every school in the district for five years, and this was [my] favorite school. I met a lot of nice people, and a lot of great programs.
It is really fun to watch students, who are new to something creative and maybe even new to performing, and see some of them really, really excel [and] have that spark in their eye. I love it!
