Patricia “Patty” Ramos is a senior at Glendale High School, and she is one of the captains of the varsity softball team. Besides softball, she loves going on walks and visiting new places. She also enjoys spending time with her baby sister, her family and her friends.
How did you first get involved in playing softball?
I started when I was ten years old. At first it was on and off. It was just for my mom and dad. It was just for fun, but then I started to grow a passion for it. And I began to absolutely love the sport.
How and why did you become a captain?
I became captain my junior year, because I was determined to be a great player. But besides that, I always enjoyed playing on that field and being accompanied by my great teammates. Despite working hard, I try my best to make sure my teammates work hard as well. I try my hardest on that field, as well as my teammates.
What happens during your team practices?
We run and work out a lot and focus on trying to be the best as a team. We practice catching fly balls and batting. Besides running and working out, we all have a great bond. We goof around, and we all are really good friends on and off the field. We just have fun while working hard.
What is your favorite part of being a member of the team?
My favorite part of being a member on the team is knowing we are all comfortable around each other [and] that we are all good friends. There are good vibes on and off the field. We all like the same thing and we all have fun together. Also, [I like] knowing we are all making memories together, not just as a team but as friends. I’m glad knowing [that] I’m playing on a team where everyone is comfortable around each other and just giving good vibes.
So far, the softball team is doing an amazing job preparing for their upcoming season in February. We are glad to have Patty on our team and a part of the Nitro community. Please stay tuned for when our girls are going to be hitting the field.
