Left 4 Dead 2 is a zombie shooter game, released by the Valve Corporation on November 17th, 2009. This game is a sequel to the first Left 4 Dead game that came out in 2008. L4D2 is a timeless classic, with its replay value and its ability to create a fun experience for everyone
Ultimately, L4D2 is still worth playing today. It has not lost its charm, even all these years after its release.
Left 4 Dead 2 still, to this day, remains the best zombie shooter game ever. It’s even better than the zombie mode in Call of Duty, because it is not boring to play after a couple hours.
What also makes L4D2 better than a lot of other zombie shooters is its replay value. Every map in the game is fun to play over and over again, and it changes randomly every time you start a new campaign, with new items spawning in different places.
What also separates this game from all the other zombie shooters is the design of its characters and environments. You see how much effort that the Valve team put into L4D2, even though it came out just a year after the first game.
On a daily basis, there are over 20,000 active players on L4D2, so it is always easy to get into a match. This game also features a “director” during each campaign, which enhances the gameplay or perhaps makes the game harder, depending on how well you are doing during a match.
If you are going through a horde of zombies like a breeze, the director will make it more difficult, by spawning more zombies and more special infected. Conversely, if you are having a hard time on a campaign, the director will add more health supplies throughout the game and spawn fewer hordes.
In the original L4D, they had special infected, like smokers, spitters, boomers, hunters, witches and tanks. However, the tank spawns in the first game were absolutely terrible, because they would show up three or four times in each campaign. Thankfully, they fixed this issue in L4D2.
In the sequel, they have further introduced two new special infected: the charger and the jockey. Unfortunately, these are now the two worst special infected in the game. If you and your fellow players stay as a group in a narrow hallway, a charger can come and take out and stagger the rest of your survivors, dealing high amounts of damage. Once a jockey gets onto a survivor, it steers them away from the rest of the group to take them out.
Despite all of this, L4D2 as a whole is a great, well-rounded zombie shooter, compared to others like Back 4 Blood, which is pretty awful to play. With the use of modding and the making of new maps, this game can never die, due to the large player base that keeps making new content.
Overall, Left 4 Dead 2 is a timeless classic and masterpiece, that you can always go back to play with friends and have a great time. And if you like L4D2, then you should also check out Garry’s Mod and Team Fortress 2.
