Dvin Badal Hayrapetyan has chosen to build his own legacy.
Dvin was born in Iran, and he moved to Austria at one-and-a-half years old, before coming to the US after his second birthday. Dvin loves sports, and he will play anything, from tennis to basketball to volleyball, you name it. But his main sport is soccer. He also really enjoys building Legos, in true Puzzle Club fashion.
Dvin has really made an impact on Glendale High School. He really enjoys building puzzles, and when he realized that he could turn this passion into his own club, he was extremely eager to do so. He single-handedly created GHS’s first Puzzle Club, where the goal is just to hang out, bond, talk with friends, and build puzzles together.
Puzzle Club meets every Friday, ideally three times a month. Dvin described the club as being “homey”. You’re put into a safe environment, with people who have similar interests as you, doing things most people consider “nerdy”. It is a really fun and easy way to express yourself, while also allowing members to relieve their stress.
While Puzzle Club is a great addition to our school, there were, and are still, many challenges that Dvin is facing. A large part of these problems are financial. Puzzle Club is obviously quite different from other clubs because if they meet every week, that’s a lot of puzzles. Luckily, Dvin has been able to earn a grant to support the start of his club, and this grant will continue to support them as well.
Dvin’s main goal for Puzzle Club is to gain new members. He really wants the club that he has pieced together to flourish. After graduating from GHS, he really hopes to go to UCLA to continue his education.
Dvin would also like to add that people who choose to join Puzzle Club next semester should receive some free merchandise. We don’t know when that’s happening exactly, but it’s certainly something to look forward to!
