NewJeans is a new K-pop girl group, who debuted on August 1, 2022 with their self-titled EP, New Jeans. The members of this five member girl group are Hanni, Haerin, Minji, Danielle, and Hyein. NewJeans is currently under contract with a record company called HYBE, which is known for producing successful groups like LE SSERAFIM. 

NewJeans has recently taken the world by storm. All of their songs are trending, and everyone is fawning over their dances. They have gained a following very quickly. I mean who wouldn’t love their catchy and upbeat songs, not to mention the members’ bubbly personas?

NewJeans has only released two singles “OMG” and “Ditto”, along with their EP New Jeans. And yet despite this, they have still managed to impress at award shows. 

NewJeans has currently won FIFTEEN awards. Their biggest awards would be Rookie of the Year and the Best New Artist award at the Golden Disc Awards. 

Their success is also all the more impressive, because they are all so young. The oldest member is 18 years old and the youngest is only 14. That is just crazy for me to imagine that someone could be that young and still be a global star. 

However, there has been some controversy concerning their ages. Some people think that it is not okay for someone that young to be in the public eye. I believe that it’s very fulfilling to be a star at a young age, but I do also feel that it may have negative effects on a person’s mental health. 

There has been a lot of talk about how NewJeans could be a new BTS. But is this really true? I honestly don’t think so. 

I think that it is really great that NewJeans has created a new wave of K-pop music that many people enjoy, but compared to BTS, they have just barely gotten started. 

Additionally, the members of BTS have set so many “firsts” for K-pop music. For example, they were the first K-pop group to attend the Grammy Awards, and the first to be nominated for an award. 

However, it is possible that NewJeans will continue to receive accolades and become the “next” BTS. With the direction that they are going, they definitely have the potential to do so.
