Weak Hero Class 2 is a 2025 K-drama starring Park Ji-hoon as Si-eun. This drama is based on a 2018 manhwa titled Weak Hero by Seopass and Kim Jin-seok. You can watch this series now on Netflix, iQIYI, and OnDemandKorea.
The story follows Si-eun, who is still devastated by what happened to his friend, Suho (Choi Hyun-wook), in the first season and by his broken friendship with Beom Seok (Hong Kyung). Now, Si-eun has been forced to leave Byuksan High School, where he is a “top student,” because after a scuffle with the students, he is forced to transfer to Eunjang High. This new school is notorious for bullies and delinquents, where the teachers have basically given up on teaching, because their students are so hard to manage.
Si-eun promises himself that he will stay out of trouble, but this vow is quickly broken when he witnesses Seo Jun-tae (Choi Min-young) getting bullied by other students, which makes Si-eun want to fight back. This is when he meets Park Hu-min (Ryeoun) and Go Hyun-tak (Lee Min-jae), who become Si-eun’s support system.
After saving Jun-tae from trouble, this catches the eye of Geum Seong-je (Lee Jun-young), a member of the “Union”, which is a highly organized syndicate that controls several schools, and the members are not just “bullies.” They operate like a corporation and perform illegal operations, like forcing students to do errands and deliveries, committing phone theft, and managing illegal gambling apps.
Na Baek-jin (Bae Na-ra), who is the leader, starts to attack the students to force them to join the Union. Baek-jin tries to manipulate Hu-min into joining the group by threatening his friend group, but it does not end well.
There is nothing bad about this series in my opinion. This eight-episode drama makes it easier to watch, and I honestly was never bored while watching it. This “high school drama” is also quite different from the usual ones I have watched. Instead of a protagonist who wins through with violence, the series centers on Si-eun, who survives through pure intelligence and technique.
And unlike many high school dramas, this one feels realistic. The series highlights how adults, specifically parents and teachers, often fail to protect their students. The fights are messy and painful, and it’s almost like you can feel every punch and kick that happens through the screen, which makes it heavy and hard to watch at times.
This season also shows the trauma and psychological impact on a student that experiences school bullying or violence. This made me like Weak Hero even more, because it illustrates the reality of students who are enrolled in such an unsafe school.
Lastly, every cast member is a terrific actor. Every emotion in their faces is shown really well. It is also nice to see how Park Ji-hoon has improved his acting skills from Season One up until now. He conveys Si-eun’s personality seamlessly. Ji-hoon’s “eye-acting” also adds a lot to the show, as if they can speak for themselves. I also noticed that his eyes look glassier or “heavier” this season, which perfectly captures what Si-eun is going through throughout the show. I think one of the highlights is when his eyes shift from those of a quiet student to those of a fighter, which is a nice touch.
So you should definitely give Weak Hero Class 2 a try. And if you want to watch something similar to this series, I also recommend Study Group and The Glory!
