Annual Brand Classroom Showcase of Glendale Unified School District

Brand Library & Art Center in partnership with Glendale Unified School District is pleased to present the inaugural Annual Brand Classroom Showcase of Glendale Unified School District 2018-2019 (ABCS of GUSD). Centered on the theme of “empowerment”, this year’s exhibition, titled This is Our Time, features artwork in a wide range of media by students from the five public high schools in Glendale. Photography, painting, sculpture and installation art are all represented in this powerful exhibition that gives students a public platform for their art.
The ABCS of GUSD 2018-2019 is the culminating event in a larger program that provides interested Glendale high school students the opportunity to learn directly from local art professionals. This year students were invited to Brand Library & Art Center to meet with Brand Gallery staff, the Walt Disney Art Collection Manager, and the Huntington Library Chief Preparator for a unique hands-on, interactive learning experience. The students received basic instruction on the proper handling and installation of artwork, curation, and presentation The exhibition not only showcased their artwork, but their curatorial decisions as well!
