Sydney Koo is a senior at Glendale High School, who strives to stay involved and make an impact on others. She is putting in the effort, not only in academics, but in athletics, clubs, and the community. She’s a true all-arounder!
Although she may seem shy, Sydney is full of with that bring a smile to the faces of those around her. She is easy-going and loves to spend time with friends. In her free time, she heavily enjoys crocheting and watching 2000s TV shows like The O.C.
Sydney has a packed schedule. She is currently taking four AP classes, which all require tedious and strenuous work, yet she “always gets the work done.” Her academic success has led her to be accepted into the National Honor Society. Despite how time-consuming her academics may be, she still manages to be a part of other extracurricular activities.

Sydney is a part of the varsity swim team, and is eager to begin her fourth and final season. She is passionate about swimming and improving in her skills. Last year, Sydney won the Coaches Award, acknowledging her dedication to the team and love for the water.
She is also a four-year member of our yearbook staff, and she is currently serving as an editor for her second-straight year. The Yearbook program has been a huge part of Sydney’s experience at GHS. As editor, she has online access to all of the yearbook pages, and she overlooks other students’ spreads, giving suggestions and making edits, alongside Mr. Livingston. The yearbook has been a creative outlet for Sydney, allowing her to help coordinate and create a special memory book for the students of GHS.
This is also Sydney’s first year as a part of ASB, and she is serving as the Director of Academics, meaning that she is in charge of the Student of the Month awards. Additionally, she will help plan out the Decision Day for seniors in May, and she will help our student body to elect the 2025 Teacher of the Year. Sydney finds joy in working behind the scenes and making sure that things run smoothly on campus.

Finally, Sydney is the president of the Hunger Heroes Club on our campus. Their primary focus is aiding the homeless population in Glendale through acts and donations. They’ve assisted homeless shelters, and they’ve made care packages and hygiene kits for them as well.
Sydney emphasized that everyone deserves to be seen and cared for, and her club is just one way for students to do so. She is also a member of both the Make-a-Wish Club and the Letters for Rose Club. These organizations have both worked together with Hunger Heroes in monthly joint meetings to give back to their community.
Despite taking over numerous leadership positions and responsibilities, Sydney has consistently put in the effort to push herself to do more. She encourages other students to be involved on campus, as there are always new leadership roles to be filled.
