The 2024 Club Rush took place in the Glendale High School quad on September 11th and 12th, during lunchtime. The area was filled with students signing up for clubs to suit their interests. To make the event more engaging for prospective members, some clubs offered small treats, like candies and croc charms, if they signed up.
Club Rush was a very lively event that offered students the chance to earn volunteer hours, have fun, meet new people, and take advantage of many new opportunities. Some clubs are artistic or athletic in nature, while other clubs are focused on giving back to their community.
Nare Yesayan, this year’s ASB Director of Clubs, felt that Club Rush went extremely well this year. The table setup was convenient, and everything was easy to see. She noticed that people were more engaged and excited to sign up for clubs, as opposed to prior years. She also praised the club presidents for their hard work. Nare is planning to hold an additional Club Rush event when we return from Winter Recess in January.
Elayna Ovasapyan, the president of the GHS Art Club, hopes to inspire those who have an interest or a passion for art or want to learn more about it. Her goal for the club is for students to further pursue their artistic careers in the future. She also hopes that Art Club makes the year better for people, knowing that they have their small community at GHS.
Hunger Heroes Club president, Sydney Koo, encourages everyone to get involved and contribute in making this community a kinder space. The members of the Hunger Heroes Club work with homeless shelters to provide for the unhoused population in our city, through donations and volunteer activities. By joining and participating in the opportunities provided by this club, people can receive community service hours and give back to their Glendale community.
Leora Freeman, president of the Girls Athletic Association Club, is calling on everyone to get involved and to help support our female athletes. She wants to encourage this by having members attend each other’s games and visit elementary schools, to teach young girls about women in sports. Leora’s goal, by the end of the year, is for our female Nitro athletes to get to know one another better and become closer.
Don’t hold back, Nitros—go join some clubs this year! Whether it’s for academics, athletics, or just hanging out, everyone should get involved in a club.
Who knows? Your whole high school experience might change just from meeting new people and experiencing new things!
Please go HERE for a list of all the clubs the GHS has to offer. Even if this first Club Rush event is past, you can still reach out to the club presidents and get more information from them.
