“Envy”

A poem by Anaiah Ramos

Envy

i envy you

for your hair

for your friends

for your life

but most especially your eyes

they’re pretty

they’re enchanting

they’re beautiful

but your eyes see something i will never

the mirror, the pictures, your words

they will never describe how beautiful it is

to see

to see me

A poem about how humans will never be able to see their own face properly, and being jealous of others who can see our true beauty when we cannot see it ourselves.
