Your 2025 Glendale High School winter guard team closed out their season in championship competition on Saturday, April 12. They competed against ten different schools in their division and finished in fourth place. Their championships were held at Portola High School and featured a total of fifty-five different schools, from all over Southern California. A recap of their scoring can be found HERE!
GHS took to the floor performing their captivating show, “If I Were King”, a beautifully choreographed journey. This routine followed senior Hasmik Tumasyan, who played a humble peasant girl with dreams of the changes she would make if she were king.
You can find their performance here (courtesey of GHS assistant principal, Dr. Bill Estrada-Gallimore):
The hard work put in by our winter guard team has paid off, and in addition to their fourth-place overall finish, they achieved third place in multiple categories, including equipment analysis, design analysis and general effect. The category of “equipment analysis” includes evaluating a team’s mastery and creativity with flags, rifles, sabres and props. “Design analysis” assesses the artistry, innovation and cohesion of a squad’s visual storytelling, and “general effect” judges the overall emotional and aesthetic impact of their performance
Glendale’s fourth-place finish is an amazing way to complete their season, especially because they boosted their score by a jaw-dropping thirteen points, as compared to their competition just two weeks earlier. This has been an incredible season for our winter guard team, who had a first-place finish at their first evaluation show and a third-place finish at their second competition. Although they didn’t win a medal at their championship competition on Saturday, the hard work they have put in was truly admirable and was reflected in their ranking.
