Lilit Manandyan is a 17-year-old junior at Glendale High School, and she is the founder and president of the new Biology Club on our campus. She has a bunch of hobbies, including reading books, painting, playing the guitar, and babysitting.
Lilit’s purpose in creating the Biology Club on our campus was to get more people interested in biology. She and her members explore the natural world, and they hopefully have considered majoring in biology when they move on to college.
Lilit founded this club because she wanted to study biology at the university level. “I wanted…more people to see how interesting biology can be,” she said. She opened the Biology Club to get more people involved in life sciences.
Lilit believes that she is a really good fit for being the Biology Club president. She has a huge interest in bio and is going to major in biology after graduation. Lilit believes that any good leader should be really determined and understanding, and she thinks that strong leaders just listen to people without being judgemental.
Lilit started this club back in February, so she has had several meetings so far. But, she is going to start their first huge project this month. The Biology Club will be creating a little ecosystem, with a bunch of flowers and other plants.
Lilit feels that the most difficult part when working with club members is creating an interesting atmosphere. She also thinks that making everyone involved during their meetings, and making sure that no one is feeling bored or left out, is also very difficult to deal with.
This year, Lilit’s favorite memory so far occurred during her first club meeting. There were so many people who showed up, which caused her to have lots of emotions. She was excited, but also nervous, but her friends were cheering her on.
Lilit’s goal for the Biology Club is to finish their ecosystem project successfully. And if it does become successful, they can either donate it to schools or hospitals, but they haven’t decided yet.
If you’re interested in joining the Biology Club, you can just go to Ms. Khalatyan in Room 4415 and she will invite you to their Google Classroom. You can also join the Biology Club through the Remind app, using the code @efac3h.
