Angelina Mourtada is a sixteen-year-old junior at Glendale High School. She enjoys spending time with her friends, going out, sleeping, and listening to music. She is also an ASB Commissioner and serves as president of the STEMsters Club.
Angelina started this club because she loves STEM and knows many students on our campus do, too. She wanted to create a space to get others involved and help them build leadership skills.
STEMsters is a non-profit organization that works to introduce younger students to STEM. Students can volunteer to inspire the youth with engaging hands-on projects.
Why do you think this club was needed at GHS?
A lot of people can gain leadership opportunities [and]responsibilities from this club by helping kids, and [this club is] for people…who are interested in STEM.
What kinds of community service and activity opportunities does this club offer?
We go to after-school centers and teach kids fun little science projects, and I’m also thinking of finding more places to volunteer relating to STEM.
What happens during club meetings?
We haven’t had a club meeting yet, because it’s a new club. But I’m thinking [that] we’ll go over when we’re gonna have a lesson and teach kids.
What is your favorite part about being a club president?
My favorite part of being a club president is being able to lead the club and helping everyone have a role within the club.
What plans and goals do you have for this club?
I hope we can get people to join and learn more about STEM. I hope to make a difference and hope this club goes on even after I graduate.
