The sophomore president is shaping the future of medicine with her new Pre-Med Club.
Wed Al-Dulaimi is a sophomore here at Glendale High School. She was born in Jordan and moved to Glendale when she was six years old. Her dream is to attend Columbia University, and she wants to be either a neurosurgeon or a pediatrician in the future.
Wed is a member of our GHS track and field team, and she is a part of the GHS School Site Council. She also loves the beach and is a volunteer at Glendale Memorial Hospital.
Wed started the Pre-Med Club at GHS this year, and she started it because she wanted to build a community of people with the same interests as her. At the same time, she hoped to give more people a chance to explore the medical world.
This year, Wed aims to provide valuable insights to students interested in pursuing careers in the medical field, while simultaneously expanding her knowledge. Her goals include offering CPR certification opportunities for all members, connecting students with medical-related opportunities, and arranging chances for club members to meet and learn from professionals in various healthcare fields. Wed is dedicated to not only helping others, but also growing as a leader herself, and she’s excited to bring new ideas and opportunities to the Pre-Med Club this school year.
In the future, Wed has several activities planned to support important medical causes, including fundraisers for organizations like the International Medical Corps, the LA Community Health Project, and the Partners in Care Foundation. She also hopes to organize field trips to medical workshops for hands-on experience and to cancer walks to support those battling the illness. Additionally, Wed aims to create more opportunities for club members to get involved in volunteer work and positively impact their communities.
Wed is the perfect fit for president of the Pre-Med Club, combining her passion for neuroscience with a genuine love for helping others. She values critical thinking and makes sure it’s a key part of her club’s activities. Wed believes the most important qualities in a leader are reliability and building a strong sense of community and trust, which are traits that she has excelled at since taking on this new role.
The Pre-Med Club is lucky to have her leadership and if you’re interested in joining, you can email their advisor, Ms. Lazo, at [email protected]. You can also follow the club on Instagram: @ghs.premedclub, or you can join their Remind thread, by texting “@ghspremed” to 81010.
