Erynn Padillo is a senior at Glendale High School and has lived in Glendale her whole life. She is the captain of the girls golf team at GHS and also the president of the California Scholastic Federation on our campus.
Erynn has three siblings and is the second oldest among them. Besides her love for golf, she is a self-taught pianist, who has been practicing her skills since she was a little kid.
Erynn was first introduced to golf by her father at ten years old, and she has been participating in the sport ever since. She has been playing golf with her family for as long as she can remember. She said that playing golf reminds her of her family and her childhood, which is why it’s such a special sport to her.
Once the golf season starts, Erynn’s coach, Mr. Anthony Mohr, likes the team to practice together, but he lets them have individual practices as well. Although the golf team is small, they are all very close and will always help each other out. Erynn has had many successes in golf, and some of them include playing competitive golf, becoming varsity captain and making the Pacific League finals.
Even though Erynn has a busy schedule, she believes that she will always have time to do whatever she needs to do. “I am in clubs and I am also in AP classes,” she said. “And although it does get overwhelming and hard to keep myself on track, I’ll always find some time to get my work done.” Erynn considers herself to be an extrovert, and outside of school, she likes to have her own time, hang out with her friends and play the piano.
In the future, Erynn plans to be a dermatologist or a cosmetic chemist. Currently, she is in the process of applying for colleges, and does not know where she will end up, but she plans on going “wherever the wind takes her.”
Erynn is an amazing golf captain, and she hopes that everyone will give it a try. She said, “Although golf is a very small and uncommon sport, it’s still very fun and enjoyable.” Golf is a very mental sport, and she says if you want to work on your mental capabilities, you should definitely go for it.
