Sona Gasparyan is a senior at Glendale High School, and she’s been involved in many activities around our school. She has been a part of ASB since her junior year, and she started out as an ASB commissioner and she is now the ASB Director of Spirit.
Sona is also the president of both the Physics and Spanish Clubs at GHS. She is a member of the National Honor Society and other clubs, and she is the manager of the softball team.
This is the first year that Sona has been the president of the Physics Club. The Physics Club had been closed for a few years, so Sona decided to get involved with it. She likes how physics helps to bond people together, and she gave it a chance by restarting the club.
During Physics Club meetings, Sona and her members are planning to do some fun activities, such as making rockets and anti-gravity devices, and they will hold various fundraisers. The Physics Club also offers tutoring, and Sona is planning to visit other schools to present physics lessons to their students and show them how interesting the subject can be.
People should totally join the Physics Club, since it’s a required course at GHS. It will help students to learn more about the subject, and members do not only focus on classwork physics, but they also create many projects.
Sona is also the president of the GHS Spanish Club. After she found out that no one had renewed this club for our current school year, she decided to step up and take charge of it.
For future meetings in the Spanish Club, they are planning on playing some fun games, sponsoring cultural days, and holding fundraisers. The biggest challenge that our Spanish Club members are facing is that not many people are joining the club, because they weren’t there for Club Rush in September.
Students should join the Spanish Club, because it’s going to be a lot of fun, featuring many games and activities. And it’s another way for our school to represent and celebrate the Hispanic and Latino communities at GHS. “You are welcome to join, whether you are Hispanic or not,” Sona said. “And I’m not Hispanic myself!”
Sona encourages all people to join her clubs, especially if they are struggling with meeting people and making friends. She hopes that both of these clubs will continue in the future, and she already knows some juniors who will keep them going next year. Following graduation, Sona sees herself at a university, studying to become a lawyer, and she’s confident that many more achievements will be accomplished.
