Upper Court
Khalisah Bello
Khalisah transferred to GHS at the end of 2022, and she came from a little city in Maryland. When she arrived on campus, she decided to join the track team and started practicing with the volleyball team during their off season. She then joined the team and got to experience new cultures and friends. Khalisah decided to then start doing hair, but she had to make a decision between volleyball and cosmetology. She made the decision to do hair, and now she has her own six-figure business and is encouraging other people to start their own businesses. She participates in all cosmetology activities and is now a part of the Black Student Union Club. When she is not hairstyling, Khalisah enjoys retail shopping. She plans on going to community college and then transferring to a four-year university, while also doing hair. She will then open her own salon, located in Hollywood or Pasadena, and her own black beauty supply store, located in Glendale.
Tiffany Duarte
Tiffany has been a proud member of ASB for the last three years and is currently serving as ASB Vice President. She is also the captain of the GHS Scholastic Bowl team, president of the UNICEF Club, vice president of the Filipino Club, and a member of the California Scholarship Federation and the National Honor Society. Outside of school, Tiffany represents GHS as one of our school’s Student Advisory Council members. During the weekends, she enjoys volunteering at her church or being part of study sessions for her classes. In her spare time, Tiffany enjoys watching action and romance TV shows, reading fantasy novels, shopping, memorizing random trivia, stretching and doing pilates. After high school, Tiffany wants to major in forensic science or engineering, but she might just do both and go into forensic engineering. She is very interested in forensics, because she likes knowing the reason why or how things happen. She is also logical and enjoys math, so she thinks engineering will be a great fit.
Adri Fenyes
Adri is a four-year member of our cheer squad and the head captain of the team. She is also an ASB commissioner and does sports announcements for Advisory. Adri is the president of American Cancer Society and Students Together Assisting Refugees (STAR) Club and the vice president of California Scholarship Federations. She is also a member of NHS and other clubs. Adri works outside of school, and she does a lot of community service and has an internship. Her hobbies include traveling, shopping, reading, and sleeping. After graduation, she plans to attend a four-year university and major in hospitality, eventually becoming a hotel manager, because she loves working with people and has always been good at business.
Isaiah Galindo
Isaiah is a member of our varsity football team, and he is a part of a couple clubs. In his free time, he enjoys working out, reading his Bible, watching movies and hanging out with loved ones. After graduation, he plans to go abroad and become a photographer.
Angelica Gamboa
Angelica is a track and field captain, about to complete her fourth year on the team. She is also the previous president of the Body Positivity Club, and she was accepted into this year’s Glendale Memorial Hospital internship program. Angelica enjoys cooking, thrifting, sight-seeing, singing karaoke, shopping, and spending time with her friends. After graduation, Angelica plans to become a nurse, by first becoming an LVN, and then an RN, so that she can help those around her and support her family.
Suzy Kostanyan
Suzy is currently the publicist for the Armenian Club, and for the past two years, she has been a sprinter and a manager for our track and field team. Outside of school, Suzy enjoys her time working with and tutoring kids, and she also loves cooking, tanning, shopping and spending time with her friends and family. After high school, Suzy plans on going to college and pursuing a career in law, because she is passionate about defending the innocent.
Bennett Lee
Bennett is a member of the Federation of Christian Athletes and the MESA Club. He’s currently the ASB Director of Finance, as well as a part of the first graduating cohort of the GHS Cloud Computing program. Outside of school, he tutors students in math, and he volunteers at the Glendale Central Library and Christy’s Food Foundation. In his spare time, Bennett enjoys driving and playing video games with his sister. After graduation, he plans to attend a four-year university with a degree in nursing, so that he can care for and help others in need.
Samantha Waked
Throughout her four years at GHS, Samantha has been very involved at school and in her community. She has been on the dance team for four years and a captain for three years, and this year she proudly serves as the head captain. In addition, Samantha is a founder and president of Color A Smile Club, where she spreads positivity to those in need, and she is the treasurer for the Creative Writing Club. In addition, Samantha has been a Nitro Crew leader and a participant in the GHS Student Voice Panel. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and the California Scholarship Federation. Samantha is also heavily involved in volunteer work around the community, including the Pasadena Humane Society, homeless shelters, and Glendale Unified School District. Samantha’s hobbies include dancing, running, painting, reading, shopping, journaling, traveling, and going out with friends. After high school, Samantha plans to attend a four-year university, where she will major in psychology. Her hope and vision is to work with children and help them achieve and believe in their strengths, instead of focusing on their weaknesses. Her passion is helping others, and as a psychologist, she knows that she can, and will, make a difference.
Layla Whitley
Layla has been a member of the GHS track team since her freshman year and received her position as captain last year. She competes in the 100-meter hurdles, the long jump and the high jump. Additionally, during her junior year, Layla became the co-founder and president of the Black Student Union Club, where she and her teammates work hard to unite those of African descent and create a safe place for said individuals in the Glendale community. This year, Layla became the vice president of the FIDM Fashion Club and the ASB Director of Athletics. Outside of school, Layla works with her mother to coordinate events, such as weddings, whilst also focusing on her studies. In her free time, Layla likes to play games, read books, watch shows, and go out on adventures whenever she can. Following graduation, she plans on attending a four-year university in the fall, where she will pursue the field of kinesiology and plans to become an athletic trainer. Layla wants to work closely with athletes and help others, and her dream goal is to join the Olympic medical team.
Armine Zelveyan
Armine is described as a hard-working and compassionate individual. She is down for a good adventure and will always find a way to drag you on to the dance floor with her. Armine is never scared to express how she truly feels and is always willing to be herself around whomever she encounters. She is the president of the GHS Armenian Club, as well as the treasurer for both the Mental Health Awareness Club and STAR Club. She is also a member of the varsity girls water polo team and swim team. While balancing school, Armine also works as a certified lifeguard, and she has over 85 community service hours from volunteering at her former schools and community church. When she does have free time, she loves to hang out with her friends and binge-watch shows, like Gossip Girl or The Vampire Diaries. She also enjoys going on shopping sprees with her sister and mother, swimming, going on roadtrips with her father, painting with friends and listening to new music while on late-night drives. After high school, Armine hopes to attend a four-year university somewhere in California and major in forensic psychology. She wants to hopefully go to law school to become a criminal defense lawyer, because she has always been intrigued by criminal court cases and how the mind works. Armine is looking forward to what the rest of her senior year and future will look like!
Lower Court
Anette Rodriguez
Anette has been playing lacrosse at GHS since her sophomore year. She is involved in the GAME Club, which is a study session for athletes. She loves volunteering in her community, and anytime there’s an opportunity to volunteer, she goes for it. Anette’s hobbies include playing lacrosse and binging on movies. After graduation, she plans on going to Pasadena City College and then get a job at her father’s company, so that she can make money and help her family with anything they need. She hopes to one day earn a degree in pharmacy or nursing.
Alexa Toledo
Alexa has been playing lacrosse since her freshman year. She’s been involved in school activities, like ASB, and she’s mainly involved in Key Club, Save the Seas Club and GAME Club. She also is involved in her community, including volunteering at the public library by reading books to children. In her spare time, Alexa enjoys going to concerts, playing guitar, signing karaoke, listening to music, album collecting and playing lacrosse. After high school, Alexa wants to continue her education, and sociology and psychology really interest her. She’s also thinking about playing lacrosse in college, because she is currently enjoying the sport more than ever.
Sophia Calica
Sophia is a member of both the GHS golf and lacrosse teams. She is the publicist for the Class of 2027 and the American Cancer Society. She is also a senior Girl Scout, who cares about her community and volunteers her time to help people in need. In her free time, Sophia enjoys playing lacrosse and golf. She plans on going to UC Davis and becoming a pediatric cardiologist, because she wants to heal and to make a difference in the lives of children with heart conditions.
Mai Mendoza
Mai is a part of our GHS drumline team, a cabinet member for the Filipino Club and a part of our volleyball team. In her free time, she enjoys drumming, sleeping, eating, taking photos and hanging out with her friends. After graduation, Mai hopes to join the Drum Corps International, since she has wanted to be a part of a marching band for a long time. She plans on attending Pasadena City College and eventually going to a four-year university, to study either criminal justice or marine biology, since she has always been interested in these subjects.
Kaya-Rose Hoffer
Kaya-Rose is a freshman at GHS. Although her time on our campus has just begun, she has involved herself in a number of activities, including the cheer squad, Model United Nations Club, and Flag Japanese. Outside of school, Kaya is involved in Youth & Government at the Glendale YMCA. In her free time, she enjoys baking, reading, and listening to music. After high school, Kaya would like to attend a prestigious law school and later become a civil rights attorney. She has always enjoyed helping people, and she thinks that fighting for them in a courtroom is the best way to do so.
Kali Martinez
Kali, a freshman at Glendale High School, is known for her fun personality along with her school spirit. She has always been drawn to making her peers smile. She’s always loved the spotlight and the attention. With her infectious smile and laughter, she enjoys cheering people up. Her hobbies include cheerleading, going to the gym, and shopping, and she sometimes has tumbling classes outside of school. During her senior year, Kali plans to apply to USC and major in biology. She has always wanted to go into the medical field to pursue a career. She enjoys helping others and she would love to do this for the rest of her life.
