Yeraz Kassabian was born to do good.
She is a junior at Glendale High School and plays on the girl’s varsity soccer team. Yeraz is also the founder and president of the Dynamiter Do-Gooders, a new community service club at GHS.
Why did you start the Dynamiter Do-Gooders Club?
I wanted to create a community in which people could connect and make new friends gain community service hours and help their community.
Why do you believe this club is needed on our campus?
Although there are many other community service clubs, I believe there is no such thing as too many…community service clubs you can make. I feel [our club] would bring additional goodness to the community.
What is the purpose of the Dynamiter Do-Gooders?
The purpose of this club is to, first of all, bring together the [students of] Glendale High School, so people can make more friends and be more confident in themselves. But also, the main purpose of this club is to gain community service hours, while simultaneously helping [or city].
What do you do during club meetings?
Going forward, during our meetings, we will be having discussions about the community service opportunities my peers want to do, or what else they believe we can do to make our [city] a better place. We will also talk about what we can do to gain hours or anything else we can do to better our community.
What kind of projects and activities do the Dynamiter Do Gooders do outside of school?
Outside of school, we will be going to different senior homes in Glendale throughout the school year, and we will also, hopefully, be going to elementary schools. [We will also consider] any other opportunities our cabinet, or any other members, will be able to think of.
What is your favorite part of being president of this club?
My favorite part of being president is that I’m able to help my peers firsthand, and be there to help them with any questions they have about the club or the school. I also just want to help my community.
How can the Dynamiter Do Gooders benefit other GHS students?
We can benefit other students by spreading good throughout [Glendale]. It’s in our name: Do-Gooders. Other students should join so they can make new friends, learn how to be confident in themselves, and learn how to help their community. Maybe this will inspire them to make their club at Glendale High School.
What other information about this club should GHS students know?
We are always open to new members and we’re really happy to be serving our community and helping out. Whether we are helping students at GHS or people in Glendale, we are excited to be a first-year club, and hopefully, we will be around for many more years!
Yeraz hopes that her club will be able to grow and offer lots of community service opportunities in the upcoming year. After her graduation in the Spring of 2026, she hopes the club can keep growing without her. In the future, Yeraz hopes to work hard and get into a good college, where she can study to become an ophthalmologist.
